Decided to write a short review about my vertical labret piercing, since there was so little information online when I got mines done, think I got alot covered or at least the main things that I found useful during the healing process, but feel to send any questions!
I got my vertical labret piercing 14 weeks ago at a well known tattoo/piercing parlour in Edinburgh. I literally woke up in one of my days off and decided to get it that morning, there is two main reasons why I have chosen to get a vertical labret, first reason was because it is a piercing I always loved seeing on people, and it looks amazing with lipstick ! And the second and main reason was that it is a lip piercing that does not cause gum/tooth damage, unlike the normal labret piercing.
Pain wise, it certainly hurt less than when I had my nose piercing done, in a scale from 0 to 10, I would say it is a 7. But after it is pierced, that is it. It will only make your life a little more complicated for two weeks ! Your lips super dry and it is advised not to put lip balm for at least 2 weeks but I had to do on day 2, it was very annoying. Eating was perfectly fine for me to do afterwards but drinking just with a straw, after the two weeks it feels OK to drink without a straw, but I still drink with a straw when I drink from bottles (because I have swallowed the top ball of the piercing drinking a bottle of coke before...). They also advice no kissing at least 2 weeks for obvious reasons, but it is perfectly fine after that. Oh and don't forget about the aftercare, so important during the healing time !
I changed my original jewellery to a smaller one for aesthetics reasons mainly on week 7 (minimum to get it changed), on week 8 I swallowed the top ball of the jewellery and had to visit the parlour to get another jewellery, I could only get there two hours after the happening, it made my skin shrink back and it was nearly as painful as getting it pierced again when I got a new jewellery, but I had no problems at all since then.
